Mission, Vision, and Values

The Rogers Theater was commissioned by MGM, designed by Charles C. Benson and built in 1936. It boasts the only 20th century art-deco architectural design in the Uptown Shelby Historic District.
The theater is protected by historical covenants that preserve the portions of the building that contribute to the Uptown Shelby Historical District, and the building itself.
Our Mission
The mission of The Rogers Theater project is the preservation of the historic Rogers Theater and support of local performing arts.
Our Vision
Our vision is a supportive and thriving arts community in Cleveland County. We will champion that by:
-
Restoring the Rogers Theater to be a high-quality, mid-sized, affordable venue for performances and exposure.
-
Nurturing a growing performing arts community by establishing and running a performance venue that is accessible by a variety of artists in the Greater Cleveland County area.
-
Encouraging growth and exposure of emerging and established local artists and audiences by providing a professional performance experience.
-
Honoring the history of the venue by preserving the unique art-deco interior and exterior style that sets the building apart.
Our Values
At The Rogers Theater Project, we believe that...
-
... variety of music, film, theatre, and dance makes the community richer.
-
... all upcoming artists should have a place to perform.
-
... Uptown Shelby needs more entertainment options.
-
... anyone can be trained to work in a theater space.
